Howdy Hoopesters! Wishing you all the best on this lovely little Sunday. This last month was absolutely wild and B-U-S-Y in both my personal and professional life. Just three weeks ago, I graduated a year early from MTSU with summa cum laude honors and got engaged on the sugar sand beaches of Destin, Florida. Now that things have calmed down just a smidge, let’s dive into all of the new and groovy things my team and I have been up to!
The best part of making this EP is having the chance to work with such incredibly talented folks like Charlie McCoy. In his 58 year career, Charlie has laid down his saucy "harp" on records for Elvis Presley, Perry Como, Joan Baez, Johnny Cash, Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan, and Loretta Lynn (just to name a few). It was such an honor to add my EP to his list of cuts and hear him leave his legendary mark on "Not Yet" and "What Comes Next."
I also had the pleasure of welcoming Miss Shannon McNeal, a fellow MTSU singer-songwriter with a gift for trumpet, to a session this past Friday night to lay down some funky riffs on "Complicated." In the next few weeks, we'll be adding the finishing touches to rough vocals before sending the EP off to Clarke Schleicher for mixing!
Creating exclusive merchandise for y'all has been an absolute blast thanks to Miss Kaylie Stremler, who has been working so very hard on those stickers and Hippie Chick t-shirts! Born in Illinois but raised in Franklin, Tennessee, Kaylie has been practicing art since childhood. After majoring in Animation at MTSU, Kaylie is now honing her skills as an apprentice at Battleground Tattoo.
Last but not least, I'd like to introduce you to the EP's new Creative Director, Joseph "Joe" Wasilewski. A real, bonafide Nashville native, Joe has spent years capturing the music industry and its artists from behind a camera and has created stunning visual content for organizations such as 89.5 Roots Radio WMOT and Red Light Management. I feel incredibly fortunate to have his assistance in bringing my vision for this EP to life. (You'll see his talent for yourself after the release of my first music video scheduled to be filmed in Memphis, Tennessee on July 12!)
Welcome to the Retro Revival HQ! Here is where I'll be posting all the latest news on the making of the EP, merch, and more.
